Are you staying warm out there? Giant snowstorms caused by a polar vortex in the Arctic have left over a million Americans without power at some point in the past few days.
Just when our grid is most constrained by extreme weather events like this, Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans are doing everything they can to stop the expansion of cheaper and quicker renewable energy sources like solar and wind that would alleviate power outages like this in the future. If they get their way, a mere 1 million people without power due to a storm will look minuscule in a few years.
While millions of Americans were bundled up inside or struggling without power, Donald Trump posted on Truth Social and said “WHATEVER HAPPENED TO GLOBAL WARMING???”
Clearly he doesn’t realize that these polar vortexes are the direct result of climate change.
As the Arctic warms, it messes with the jet stream, allowing weather normally stuck in the Arctic to swing down all the way to us. The science says it’s only going to get worse if we do not take immediate action.
