Yesterday we learned that Greg Bovino — the man personally overseeing ICE’s campaign of terror in Minnesota — is leaving his post and exiting the state under pressure from all sides to step down.

The White House is now on the backstep. Let this be a lesson: Democracy is worth it.

Since the start of ICE’s occupation of Minnesota, we have seen an admirable wave of democratic resistance from regular folks of all backgrounds, despite the constant threat of violence, sometimes deadly violence, from immigration agents.

Minnesotans organized to document every ICE operation and encounter under their First Amendment rights. They created networks to warn their neighbors of ICE activity. They’ve put together legal aid and resources for families swept up in immigration raids. They even organized a massive general strike and day of protest last Friday, a stunning rebuke to Trump’s agenda by tens of thousands.

What we saw in Minnesota is the blueprint for resistance to fascism. Every step of the way, working class folks sent a message to Trump that they will not comply with his illegal, unconstitutional crackdowns. It’s a reminder that in the fight for democracy, we all have an important role to play.

My role as a US Senator is clear: I get to vote on the upcoming budget, and I’m not going to rubber-stamp another penny for Trump’s corrupt DHS and ICE thugs.

No more funding for these out-of-control authoritarians. No more funding for Trump’s thugs to beat, harass, and kill people. Even if it means shutting things down.

As I prepare to make this consequential vote, I’m humbly asking you to have my back. MAGA, the media, and the entire establishment is about to come down hard on Democrats in the Senate for standing up for what’s right. Your donation helps us keep up the fight as long as we must >>
