Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

Jack Smith Testifies in House Judiciary Committee Hearing

Last week, former Special Counsel Jack Smith appeared before the House Judiciary Committee to answer questions about his conduct during his team's investigations and prosecutions of President Trump and his allies. I questioned Jack Smith on why my phone data was subpoenaed by President Biden’s Department of Justice, which I only learned about a few weeks ago, and I highlighted the frightening implications this action had on the constitutional separation of powers and Congress’s speech and debate authority. More worrisome than my data being seized however, was the actions Jack Smith took against law-abiding U.S. citizens, by covertly seizing hundreds of conservative organizations and individuals’ personal records for use in his prosecution against President Trump.

Rep. Roy on the Jack Smith Targeting American Citizens: “We hear a lot about members of Congress, and we should, because of separation of powers and the egregious abuse of power. But what we're not talking about enough, in my opinion, are the American citizens that have been targeted.”

You can watch the full hearing here, and my questioning specifically, here. I also joined The Ingraham Angle on Fox News to discuss more, which you can watch here and here.

Kill the Kill Switch

During the Biden Administration, an insane mandate was included in the Infrastructure and Jobs Act that would require all new vehicles being sold to include a “kill switch” that would shut off the car if the computer thought you were impaired or driving recklessly. I, along with my Republican colleagues, fiercely opposed this dangerous mandate at the time, but due to Democrat control were unable to exclude the provision. In the recent Transportation appropriations bill, we were able to get a floor vote on an amendment that would repeal this egregious provision. However, 57 Republicans joined the majority of Democrats in defeating the amendment and maintaining the government mandate vehicle kill switch. In an era of increasing cyber threats, the potential for big government or foreign adversaries to use this technology to cripple Americans’ transportation greatly concerns me, along with its massive threat to Americans’ civil liberties.

Rep. Roy on the Vehicle Kill Switch: "The federal government should get the heck out of our cars and trucks, and no company or third party should invasively track our movements. KILL the Kill Switch.”

You can watch my comments about the Kill Switch here.

Egregious Earmarks and the Appropriations Bills

Last week, the House voted to advance four appropriations bills: Defense, Transportation and Housing and Urban Development, Labor and Health and Human Services, and Homeland Security. Totaling over $2 trillion in spending, these bills funded vital services, but also progressive political priorities. I voted against all the bills except the Homeland Security bill because of legislators’ duty to support law enforcement and our men and women in ICE.

Tucked into the Labor and Health and Human Services bill alone was $1.3 billion in earmarks for members of Congress’ personal funding priorities.

Rep. Roy on Earmarks as the Currency of Corruption: “Earmarks are the currency of corruption in Washington. They fuel waste, invite abuse, and funnel taxpayer dollars into niche pet projects. Republicans should not be embracing this practice, especially in the wake of the recent fraud scandal in Minnesota and with our national debt now exceeding $38 trillion.”

House Budget Committee Hearing on Healthcare Freedom

I recently joined the House Budget Committee for a hearing entitled: “Reverse the Curse: Skyrocketing Health Care Costs and America's Fiscal Future.” I took my time to outline the absurdity of Obamacare and our healthcare system as well as to call for serious repeal and reform. As a cancer survivor myself, I know just how crucial it is to be able to receive care from the provider of your choice. Under current Obamacare restrictions, many of my constituents suffering from cancer are unable to obtain the best treatment because the ACA restricts their providers. This system of government-mandated restrictions must end, and we need to pass Healthcare Freedom.

Rep. Roy on the Need for Healthcare Freedom: "Empower patients and empower doctors, don't empower insurance companies and don't empower government bureaucrats."

You can watch my remarks to the Budget Committee here and read my Case for Healthcare Freedom here.

The Annual March for Life

Last Friday, tens of thousands of principled men and women took to the streets of Washington, D.C. in the annual March for Life. Since 1973, over 63 million babies have been killed by an insidious ideology that sees the unborn as impediments and not human beings. I am proud to stand for the unborn and in defense of life. I was also privileged to speak at a press conference with my Republican colleagues about the importance of ending Biden-era abortion pill policies and to speak with Students for Life about our legislative efforts.

Rep. Roy In Defense of Life: "Now we find ourselves facing an entirely different grotesque procedure, and that is the shipment of drugs that are causing young women, who we were seeking to protect by getting Planned Parenthood out of this business, are now dealing with the grotesque reality of losing life in their college dorm room or in an apartment alone. I stand together with these great patriots in defense of life, and this issue is something we've got to carry forward if we're going to be serious about protecting every life in America."

Discussing the SAVE Act with Steve Deace and Matt Gaetz

Last week, I joined both Steve Deace and Matt Gaetz to discuss my bill, the SAVE Act which would secure America’s elections from non-citizen voters. The SAVE Act has already passed the House twice, and President Trump is pushing for the passage of the bill in the Senate. House Republicans stand ready to work with our Senate colleagues to get it done.

Rep. Roy: “The left is fighting us. They're fighting our own law enforcement, literally fighting ICE. We should codify President Trump’s border security measures and package that along with the SAVE Act. Only American citizens vote in American elections. Only American citizens should be getting benefits. Let's force Democrats to fight us on the floor. So if you're listening to this, you should demand that we pass this: the sovereignty package. Do you believe in America or don't you? I think we should force that question.”

Fox Business on Leaving the World Health Organization

Last week, I joined Fox Business to discuss President Trump’s decision to finally and fully withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization. I previously introduced, and have since reintroduced, legislation to withdraw the U.S. from the WHO and am supportive of and thankful to President Trump for taking this decisive action. Americans saw the tyranny of the WHO on full display during the Covid-era where the WHO pushed for global lockdowns and parroted Chinese propaganda on the origin of the virus. Staffed by radical leftists who also push gender ideology nonsense, I am pleased the United States is no longer a member of this globalist organization.

Rep. Roy on Fox Business: “These organizations are ripe with Marxists and leftists who are trying to undermine America at every turn. The World Health Organization is a total disaster."

You watch my interview on Fox Business here and here.

Winter Storm Brings Ice to the Hill Country

This weekend, a severe winter storm blanketed our country and the Texas Hill Country with large levels of snow and ice. While the damage assessments are still coming in and ice is still melting, I will continue to monitor the situation and share updates as they come in. I pray you and your families are staying safe and warm.

Sincerely,
