Hello Friend,

Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.

DELIVERING FULL-YEAR FUNDING

Image

Last week, the House completed work on all 12 FY26 appropriations bills. Advancing full-year funding strengthens accountability, reinforces Congress’s role over federal spending, and provides certainty for families, businesses, and our military.

The final package prioritizes national security, strengthens border enforcement, supports long-term infrastructure growth, moves away from Biden-era spending levels, delivers for communities across FL-18 and avoids another last-minute shutdown.

During consideration of the package, I spoke on the House floor in support of the Defense Appropriations bill. Watch my remarks here.

 SUPPORTING FLORIDA AGRICULTURE

Image

Back home, the strength of our agricultural community continues to stand out. Conversations at the Florida Cattlemen’s Institute and Trade Show highlighted why Florida leads east of the Mississippi and ranks among the top cattle states nationwide and the vital role the cattle industry plays in jobs, food security, and rural communities.

Family farms like Sutton Milk Dairy, five generations strong, are at the heart of that success. Their operation helps feed more than 100,000 people each day, a reminder of the importance of supporting local producers and Florida agriculture.

Our office is now accepting applications for summer internships in Washington, D.C. and Lakeland.

Internships are open to high school graduates, whether or not they are currently enrolled in college, and offer hands-on experience serving Florida’s 18th District through constituent services, legislative research, Capitol tours, and committee work. Applications are open, and those with ties to Florida are especially encouraged to apply.
