This is a rare chance to preserve and expand an irreplaceable forest. Join us as we raise $4 million to secure this vital addition to the reserve.
Every acquisition we make is guided by clear conservation priorities, and this property meets each one beautifully.
• It protects old growth. This expansion includes 35 acres of awe-inspiring old-growth groves, as well as thriving young trees that will become tomorrow’s giants. Safeguarding these redwoods means they can continue to draw down carbon for crucial climate resilience.
• It safeguards wildlife. The expansion protects habitat for the diverse wildlife that call the redwood ecosystem home, including northern spotted owls, the elusive Sonoma tree vole, and imperiled coho salmon.
• It builds wildfire resilience. The expansion lets us remove fire fuels from the forests surrounding the old-growth heart of the reserve. These efforts will buffer these irreplaceable trees and help lower wildfire risk in Sonoma County.
• It secures the path to public access. Since 2023, we’ve offered limited guided hikes and activities at the reserve. With input from the Kashia Band of Pomo Indians and the local community, this expansion will usher in a new phase of public access planning.
We’ve already laid the groundwork for this exciting expansion. Now, with the help of supporters like you, we seek to raise the $4 million needed to make this incredible opportunity a reality.
Together, let’s make history again.
