John,
On Saturday, federal agents shot and killed Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse who was peacefully observing deportation operations in the streets of Minneapolis. This is the second murder we’ve seen carried out by Trump’s Department of Homeland Security in Minneapolis this month.
This is gun violence carried out by the federal government . Email Senators Tillis and Budd now and tell them: vote no on any new funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in the appropriations bill. [[link removed]]
Tell the Senate: No additional funds for DHS [[link removed]]
Right now, the United States Senate is considering a bill that will determine the future of funding for DHS, ICE, and the rest of Trump’s deportation agenda. No agency that shoots civilians, abducts children, and threatens communities should be allowed to continue operating as usual.
North Carolina experienced DHS’s reckless tactics in November. We watched as U.S. citizens were profiled based on their race – their car windows smashed, their churches stormed, and their schools threatened. North Carolina knows the harm caused by Trump’s untrained, violent agents.
Senator Tillis spoke out this weekend, calling for an investigation. Now we’re asking him and Senator Budd m to halt any additional funding for this violent agency. A vote could happen as early as TODAY. Email them before more funding for this violent agency passes. [[link removed]]
We stand with Minneapolis. This month, it’s Minnesota. Next, it could be North Carolina. Not one more dime. [[link removed]]
In solidarity and for safety,
