In a win for the people of Minnesota, the Trump Administration announced that Greg Bovino, the commander-at-large for Customs and Border Protection, is being reassigned to his previous position of commander in El Centro, California. Some media are reporting that he’ll be retiring soon. And in a fate worse than death for Trump officials, they’ve reportedly cut off Bovino’s official social media access.
Susan J. Demas and Edwin Eisendrath recapped the last few days in the wake of the murder of Alex Pretti, a VA nurse from Minneapolis, that led up to Bovino’s humiliation.
“America isn’t the country they keep telling us we are. That we are actually a place that is decent and that we love our freedom and that the idea that federal thugs can walk into city streets and shoot people with impunity is simply not acceptable,” Edwin said.
And while this is a hard-fought victory for those standing up to ICE, we can’t rest until Kristi Noem, Stephen Miller, and Donald Trump himself are out of power. It’s up to Democratic leaders in Congress to stay strong and refuse to spend another penny on ICE and DHS — the brave people of Minneapolis deserve no less.
