** Memo to the Republicans who support carbon taxes: if you are so committed to the cause, why do you work in the shadows? Let's vote.
------------------------------------------------------------
E&E News ([link removed]) (1/27/26) reports: "Congress quietly adopted a much-touted carbon trade bill last week, tucking the measure into a spending package to fund energy and environment agencies. The 'Providing Reliable, Objective, Verifiable Emissions Intensity and Transparency (PROVE IT) Act' — from Sens. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Chris Coons (D-Del.) and John Curtis (R-Utah) — would have the administration study the carbon intensity of American manufacturing to show it compares favorably with other countries. The legislation, introduced last congressional term, represented a rare bipartisan compromise when it comes to examining climate emissions — but it fizzled amid skepticism from some conservatives. They said it could lead to a domestic carbon tax...Republican energy lobbyist Mike McKenna blasted the 'PROVE It Act’s' inclusion. Even though the legislation wouldn’t implement a carbon tax, critics say it could
lead to an American carbon import fee and then a domestic carbon tax. 'No Republican should ever be in favor of carbon dioxide or energy taxes. President Trump isn’t, and whoever snuck this provision into the minibus is, unfortunately, not aligned with Republicans on this,' McKenna said. 'This is a terrible idea that should never have been passed.'"

** Great news.
------------------------------------------------------------
E&E News ([link removed]) (1/26/26) reports: "Employees at the Environmental Defense Fund have voted to unionize, organizers announced. Following the public launch of the green group’s employee union in December, more than 80 percent of participants voted in favor of unionization, the union EDF Together said. Staff at the green group celebrated the vote, which concluded Friday, as a win for the environmental group’s staff and for unionization efforts across the movement. 'At over 460 eligible employees, this will be the largest environmental nonprofit union in the U.S.,' said union member Maximilian Schreck. That’s 'a huge milestone for the labor movement in the sector.'"

** You can't fight for Alaska while fighting against American energy production.
------------------------------------------------------------
AMAC ([link removed]) (1/26/26) article: "To win control of the U.S. Senate this November, Democrats will need to net at least four seats. That will likely require at least one upset victory – but liberals are quietly confident they may have just such an upset brewing in Alaska. Earlier this month, former Democrat Rep. Mary Peltola announced her candidacy to unseat incumbent Republican Senator Dan Sullivan, prompting plenty of celebration from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and other national Democrats...In her announcement video, Peltola framed her candidacy as one focused on fighting for Alaska’s interests...Peltola has also claimed to be committed to protecting her state’s economy and bringing down the cost of living, yet she has completely embraced the left’s economic and energy policies that harm everyday Alaskans. For example, she voted against the Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023 and The Lower Energy Cost Act, which would
have sped up the process for gas/oil permits in Alaska to reduce energy costs for Americans and create new jobs. She also voted for the inflationary spending of the Biden years that sent costs soaring. According to the American Energy Alliance, Peltola’s voting record on energy is similar to 'extreme anti-energy members like Green New Deal creator Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.' The group called her stance 'clearly out of step with her constituents in Alaska.'"
