Friend,

What happened in Minneapolis on the morning of January 24th wasn’t just another story in the headlines.

It was different. And it was murder.

We have a right in this country – not a privilege, a right – to speak, to protest, to film on the street, and to live without fear of government overreach. Those rights were trampled. And someone lost their life.

I believe in the rule of law. I believe in public safety. And I believe that law enforcement officers deserve our support, but that support comes with a standard: that everyone must follow the law, especially those who wear a badge.

This isn’t about partisan politics. It’s about what kind of country we want to be. And I’m still waiting – like many of you – to hear meaningful words from elected leaders in both parties who should be stepping up right now.

I’m using my voice and my office to demand:

* That this administration is held accountable
* That DHS funding be frozen until there are enforceable Constitutional guardrails
* That the Senate does its job and pushes back on this erosion of American rights

If you’re angry, I see you. If you’re tired, I hear you. But I promise you we are not powerless.

What can we do?

We can protect our neighbors. We can get organized. We can make calls. We can refuse to let this moment pass quietly. And we can demand a government that actually lives up to its founding documents, not just when it's easy.

It’s more important to be on the right side of history than the right side of any political party. And no matter what, it remains the honor of my life to do this work for you.

In solidarity,

- Eric
