![]() John, Every year, the mountain of plastic waste generated globally would bury Central Park under a layer of trash reaching the height of the Empire State Building.1 Much of that waste comes from plastic packaging. And Sysco, the world's largest food distributor, wraps many of their products in plastic.2 Sysco is a leader in their industry, and it can make a real difference. Tell Sysco to reduce unnecessary plastic packaging. Plastic packaging is used for just a few moments before becoming litter for hundreds of years. In fact, single-use plastic packaging comprises much of the plastic pollution that litters our parks, playgrounds and waterways.3 That's because plastic packaging is lightweight. So lightweight, in fact, that it can fly out of trash cans or off garbage trucks on its way to the landfill or recycling center, only to drift down streets, stick to sidewalks and sit in gutters.4 That's where Sysco comes in. Sysco delivers wholesale food to a wide variety of businesses including restaurants, hotels and hospitals. The company could put a big dent in plastic pollution by cutting back on plastic packaging across its supply chain.5 Urge Sysco to phase out wasteful plastic now. When it comes to reducing plastic waste, Sysco has an opportunity to set a powerful precedent for other companies to follow. And, Sysco's shareholders want sustainable packaging. In 2023, 92% of Sysco's shareholders voted for the company to cut back on plastic.6 We need your help to keep up the momentum. Add your name and help persuade Sysco to reduce wasteful plastic packaging today. Thank you, Faye Park |
