Public Land Warriors

Friend,

There’s a LOT going on in the news right now, but we want to bring something to your attention that is flying under the radar.

Under intense pressure from Montana Governor Greg Gianforte and Attorney General Austin Knudsen, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) just revoked long-standing bison grazing permits held by our friends at American Prairie.

This decision is a direct assault on the idea that public lands belong to all of us—not just a single industry.

For over 20 years, American Prairie has followed every rule, passed every health check, and managed their herds responsibly. But now, politicians and industry lobbyists are weaponizing a 1934 law—the Taylor Grazing Act—to claim that public lands are only for "domestic livestock" raised for "food and fiber."

By their logic, if it isn't a cow destined for a commercial slaughterhouse, it doesn't belong on our grass.

Think about the precedent this sets. If the government can arbitrarily decide that conservation-minded grazing is "illegal" despite decades of compliance, what’s next?

  • Will they use this to block hunters from accessing lands that aren't "productive" enough?
  • Will they prioritize corporate "food and fiber" over the restoration of America’s native wildlife?

We need to stand up and bring more attention to the assault on the public lands Americans value. Will you help us in our mission to protect public lands by making a donation to Public Land Warriors today?

Montana Attorney General Knudsen is calling this a "major victory." We call it a major step toward the privatization of our public resources. They are effectively saying that the public’s land should be managed as a private fiefdom for the livestock industry, overseen by henchmen who prioritize politics over science and stewardship of the land that belongs to all of us.

Public Land Warriors was built for this. Our mission is to ensure that politicians who use our public lands as their personal political playground face the consequences.

If they take our land, we will take their seat.

We are mobilizing to support the fight for Montana’s grasslands and to hold the politicians behind this push accountable for this blatant overreach. But we need the resources to take this fight to the airwaves and the ballot box.

Will you chip in $15, $50, or $100 today to help us defend the right to restore native wildlife to our public lands?

The bison belonged to these lands long before the lobbyists did. It’s time we reminded the politicians who the land really belongs to.

For the wild,
Public Land Warriors
