Here’s why this matters so much:
Mary Peltola is the kind of leader our politics needs more of. She’s
rooted in her community, shaped by the land and waters of Alaska, and
guided by a simple conviction: government should work for everyday people,
not for powerful interests.
Growing up in Bethel, salmon fishing with her father and dog mushing
through Alaska winters, Mary learned what abundance once looked like – and
she’s seen how that abundance has been threatened. Outside corporations
draining fisheries. Rising grocery and energy prices crushing families.
Politicians in Washington who don’t listen – and too often don’t care –
about what life actually costs in places like Alaska.
Mary refuses to accept that. She’s running because she believes Alaska
deserves leaders who fight for “fish, family, and freedom” – and who are
willing to take on corruption so those values can win out.
That’s the heart of this race. It’s about whether our politics will keep
rewarding the well-connected, or really deliver for working families.
Whether we’ll protect the resources that sustain communities, or let them
be exploited by those who will never have to deal with the consequences.
Mary Peltola has already won statewide in this supposedly “red” state,
showing what it looks like to lead with courage, authenticity, and respect
for people’s lived experience. In the United States Senate, she’ll fight
to lower costs, protect Alaska’s fisheries, strengthen health care, and
restore faith that democracy can still serve the public good.
This will be one of the closest Senate races in the country – and Mary
needs a strong grassroots foundation to give her the best shot possible at
flipping this seat.
