Supporter,
Towering red rock formations. Natural sandstone wonders like The Windows, Fiery Furnace and Three Gossips. More than 77,000 acres to explore. Devotees of Arches National Park say a hike through its blazing orange bluffs will change your life forever.
But as I write, Arches itself is in danger of being forever changed—by nearby dirty, dangerous oil and gas drilling. And we have a short window of time to stop it.
Big Energy companies have proposed more than 150,000 acres of federal land for potential development, some within a mile and a half from the iconic park. And Trump's Bureau of Land Management could start auctioning off parcels—for 10-year-leases—as early as September.
Supporter, they've already leased millions of acres of land to exploit for oil and gas drilling and other polluting, destructive practices. We need to stop them. We're going to mobilize our grassroots to resist these shady auctions and rally pro-environment members of Congress to protect public lands from further attacks. But only if we get your help now!
Please, help rally local, state and federal leaders to resist and stop Big Oil and Gas from invading and polluting Utah's iconic canyons with your monthly membership to the Sierra Club now and get a FREE gift.
Local organizations and elected officials are speaking up against the sale, which would release greenhouse gases and other pollutants into the region and jeopardize the aquifer that provides the area's drinking water supplies. The resulting destruction would endanger precious wild places, and potentially destabilize the local tourist and recreation economies.
We're not about to let the Trump administration endanger communities at most at risk from the effects of toxic pollution, accelerate the climate crisis, and continue to exploit our public lands.
You can help us resist alongside local business leaders, elected officials, activists and more with your monthly membership to the Sierra Club now. Help us protect vulnerable communities from pollution and save sensitive ecosystems + get a FREE insulated cooler tote bag!
There's no question that this is yet another short-sighted giveaway to Trump's fossil fuel backers that could harm wildlife and human health for a generation or more. With your help today, we will protect the dizzying maze of canyons that flank the majestic Colorado River—along with the communities that call this breathtakingly beautiful region home.
Onward,
Michael Brune
