Friend, I want to express my horror and deep sadness following the ICE shooting that happened in Minneapolis over the weekend. 

Alex Pretti – a 37-year-old VA ICU nurse – was recklessly killed in what has been the second fatal shooting by ICE officials in Minnesota in less than a month. And as both a civil rights attorney and an American, I am outraged by his passing.

Donald Trump and his rogue federal agents are directly responsible for the escalation of violence we're seeing in communities across our country.

This is what happens when you flood neighborhoods with untrained ICE personnel, give them broad authority, and administer little oversight.

The Trump administration must answer and be held accountable for the violence its tactics have unleashed. Our communities deserve to be treated with respect and dignity instead of being put in danger by their own government.

If you've been directly impacted by these increasingly violent ICE raids – or simply feel heartbreak over the terror that's taking place across our country – I want you to know that you are not alone. And I will not stop speaking out until peace is restored and justice is delivered.
