This isn’t an easy email to write. But it’s necessary.
What’s happening in our neighborhoods — including reports of intimidation and warrantless raids — is unacceptable.
Let me be clear: ICE is out of control. This isn’t about law and order.. If it were, people would be given due process, charged with an actual crime, and afforded constitutional rights. Instead, ICE is targeting our communities with fear.
A memo obtained by the Associated Press confirms it: federal agents are now allowing agents to use force to enter homes, businesses, even places of worship without a warrant. That’s a direct violation of the Fourth Amendment. And I won’t stand by and watch it happen.
I’m doing what I can here in Washington.
- I voted NO on a $75 billion GOP budget increase for DHS
- I’m calling for real guardrails to rein in ICE
- I’m working with the Oversight Committee to hold them accountable
- I’m leading the effort to impeach DHS Secretary Kristi Noem
But the truth is, we’re going to need more than just my voice. This moment demands a movement.
Our neighbors, our friends, and our co-workers deserve to feel safe in their own communities. And we deserve a government that protects the Constitution instead of ignoring it.
