In an election year, the conventional wisdom in Congress is to hunker down and hold off on actual legislating until after the election.

But that’s not how I do things. I’m in this job to get things done and make life easier for Kansas families — even when there are countless obstacles in front of us.

Yes, passing good legislation is difficult right now. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try. It doesn’t mean we should just sit on our hands, stay quiet, and allow National Republicans to dictate what Congress is focused on.
