Join the National Association of Scholars for "DEI Reform at the Universities" on Tuesday, January 27, at 2 pm ET.

The Trump administration may be rolling back the “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI) agenda at the NIH and other government research agencies, but reforms at the top are not enough. When the political winds change, as they inevitably will, the corrosive ideology of DEI remains entrenched at colleges and universities, ready to reassert itself. Now, the campaign shifts to the institutions, which need to implement wide-ranging reforms that will restore the universities to bastions of truth seeking and make the reforms stick.
 

This event will feature David Randall, Director of Research at the National Association of Scholars; William Frezza, from the MIT Free Speech Alliance; and J. Scott Turner, Director of Science Programs at the National Association of Scholars. Dorian Abbot, from the University of Chicago, will serve as moderator of the discussion and audience Q&A.

Join the National Association of Scholars for "The Cather Standards" on Tuesday, February 10, at 2 pm ET.

The National Association of Scholars, in collaboration with Freedom in Education, has drafted The Cather Standards: Model PreK-12 State English Language Arts Standards for teachers and legislators to implement in public schools around the nation. These Standards seek to close the educational gap between where students in the United States are and where they should be when it comes to English Language Arts (ELA) education.
 

Students, parents, and teachers have cried out for reform of American education. We need a new set of ELA standards that address the issues plaguing our K-12 education. The Cather Standards were written to pave a pathway to success that emphasizes content-rich, research-based instruction, making it easy for teachers to understand and implement. The Cather Standards eliminate superfluous filler, disentangle elaborate complexities, streamline learning processes, and re-centers instruction on the foundational concepts of ELA.
 

The Cather Standards are lucid, rigorous, and accessible, helping ensure that all American students have the opportunity to learn ELA for their own advancement and the public good.
 

This event will feature Sir Nick Gibb, a Member of Parliament for the United Kingdom from 1997 to 2024, he also served as Minister of State for Schools from 2010 to 2012, 2014 to 2021, and 2022 to 2023; Mark Bauerlein, professor emeritus of English at Emory University and a senior editor of First Things; and Sarah Kiesewetter, Founding Headmaster at John Adams Academy of Douglas County.

Join the National Association of Scholars either in person or in the virtual audience for "Rescuing Science: Restoring Science as Civic Virtue" on Tuesday, February 17, at 6 pm ET.

American science is in deep trouble, beset by multiple plagues including the irreproducibility crisis, doubts about academic integrity, turmoil over government funding, and a general erosion of public trust. It’s vital to our society, our prosperity, and our security that we reverse course and restore science to its potential and promise. But how? To rescue science, we need to understand how science got to its present state. Only then can we formulate a rescue plan.
 

Turner’s report outlines the historical background of science’s current crisis, and presents a series of recommendations for restoring the intellectual autonomy and freedom that is essential for what science provides to our culture.
 

This event will feature J. Scott Turner, NAS Director of Science Programs and report author; Terence Kealey, Chancellor Emeritus of the University of Buckingham (UK); Geoff Horsman, Associate Professor of Biology at Wilfrid Laurier University (Canada). This event will be moderated by Jason Locasale, an independent cancer researcher.
