John,

I want to discuss the elephant in the room today: ICE. We had another horrifically violent weekend, where yet another American citizen was murdered in broad daylight by ICE agents for the crime of trying to prevent them from getting violent with someone else.

Alex Pretti should still be alive. Renee Nicole Good should still be alive. And yet, for the second time in so many weeks, agents of the state are allowed to murder innocent people in the middle of the day and face no accountability.

I’m sick. As a mother who’s lost a child, I’m heartbroken knowing the pain that these parents are feeling right now. As a lawmaker, I’m fed up with the cruelty and gaslighting from the Trump administration. As an American, I’m tired of being told that walking on eggshells is just the way that things are now.

A couple days ago, I voted against funding ICE. I do not regret that vote. In fact, I feel more sure than ever that ICE desperately needs to be reformed in order to prevent violence.

But now that funding bill is in the Senate, where a vote is expected sometime this week – and I need your help. The Senate is in Republican control, but we can force their hands if we band together and show Republican senators how badly we all want ICE to be fixed.

Would you add your name and tell Republican senators: Do NOT fund ICE without guardrails and protections for the American public. [[link removed]]

Lucy
