Dear members and supporters,
Alex Pretti was a human being.
He was a son, a friend, a neighbor. In the moments before he was tragically murdered, he was a community member defending a woman being harassed by federal agents.
We know that it will never be enough, but our hearts are with all those who loved him, the communities of Minneapolis and Minnesota, and the families of the more than 30 people who have died in ICE custody under this administration.
We know that this is just the beginning of this regime’s unlawful, unconstitutional, and unfathomable use of militarized forces to terrorize the most vulnerable among us, including people of conscience and peaceful protesters.
No one is safe.
The horrific violence and racialized terror unleashed by this administration on families and children across Minneapolis is not only a blatant violation of fundamental human rights. It is intentionally designed to quell our spirits, silence resistance, and forcefully intimidate us into submission.
We must love and protect each other.
The courage and resilience of communities in Minneapolis refusing to comply with cruelty show us the incredible strength of collective care and solidarity.
When we fight together, we outnumber the hatemongers and overcome the politics of division. Together, we must block authoritarianism at every turn.
Here’s how you can help:
- If you are able, make a donation to support Alex Pretti’s family and his loved ones.
- Call your Senator: This week, the Senate is scheduled to vote on a government funding bill to give more funding to the Department of Homeland Security. Tell your Senator to vote against increasing DHS
funding and demand that they push for a government shutdown if funding is not removed from the bill.
We will be working with national partners and organizations on the ground in Minnesota to move in collective action against ICE, this regime, and the corporations economically supporting this reign of terror. Visit iceoutforgood.org for more information. |
