Can ICE Legally Kill a U.S. Citizen? | The Weekly Assignment with Former FBI Assistant Director Frank Figliuzzi"We are in a national crisis."This weekend, another tragedy in hit Minneapolis as federal agents senselessly shot and killed another U.S. citizen. Alex Pretti was a nurse with the Department of Veteran Affairs, attending to the needs of protesters who may have been gassed, pepper-sprayed, or worse. Unfortunately, as he was helping a woman who agents had thrown down, Pretti, a licensed gun owner, was shot several times after being tackled and pepper-spraye by several agents. Frank Figliuzzi, a retired FBI Assistant Director, 25-year veteran Special Agent, and new host with Lincoln Square, joined Susan J. Demas and Sam Osterhout for the Weekly Assignment. Figliuzzi notes the number of times the Trump Administration has previously lied to us. But this time, the administration is asking us not to believe what we witnessed with our own eyes. Figliuzzi, who investigated shootings during his time with the FBI, recounts what he saw with the video and images coming out on Saturday of Pretti’s murder. “What we were witnessing did not present an imminent threat death or serious bodily harm to the agents or to others. … This victim — and it’s very appropriate to call him a victim — was disarmed before he was shot.” Check out more of Frank Figliuzzi’s insights with Susan and Sam on the Weekly Assignment, right here on Lincoln Square.
