John – Alex Pretti, a 37-year old ICU nurse, was killed Saturday morning by lawless CBP agents while bearing witness to an attempted abduction of a fellow Minnesotan. We mourn his loss alongside his loved ones and community.

This tragedy didn’t happen in a vacuum. For years, communities have sounded the alarm about ICE and CBP putting lives at risk. Abuse of power plus blank checks for an abusive and unaccountable agency means harm is inevitable.

Congress is about to decide, as early as Thursday, whether to give more money to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). When federal agents are terrorizing communities and killing people in broad daylight, the bare minimum response is to stop funding the agencies that enable this violence.

We’ve made it quick and easy to call your representatives. Here’s all you have to do:

1. Visit the NDWA call tool page. [[link removed]]
2. Enter your phone number OR dial 1-855-674-8044 to be connected.
3. When you're connected, you can use the script [[link removed]] we’ve prepared – or tell them in your own words why Congress must stop funding ICE.

For domestic workers and caregivers, many of us already face fear and uncertainty. When federal agents are allowed to operate with less restraint and more money, it erodes the sense of safety we need to do their jobs and support families. Preschool teachers are being abducted from child care centers, home care workers are scared to leave home to do their jobs. And this moment makes it even clearer where our money should be going: to lower costs, to help families afford care for their loved ones, and make healthcare accessible - not tripling ICE’s budget and wasting billions on deportation and chaos in our cities.

We can’t keep waiting while more people are harmed. Take a moment to tell your Senators: not one more dollar for DHS to terrorize communities or fuel this administration’s cruel deportation machine. [[link removed]]

The majority of domestic workers sit at the center of some of our nation’s most decisive issues because of who they are and what they do: they are women – mostly women of color, immigrants, mothers, and low-wage workers. They are impacted by almost every policy affecting the future of our economy, democracy and country.

Domestic workers can lead us toward a new, inclusive vision for the future for all of us -- and your grassroots support is the fuel that can get us there.
