Friend – On Saturday morning, federal agents shot and killed 37-year-old Alex Jeffrey Pretti, an ICU nurse who cared for veterans, in Minneapolis after brutally beating him in front of witnesses. This comes less than three weeks after an ICE agent killed Renee Nicole Good – marking the third shooting involving federal agents in that time. The people of this country need not witness another senseless act of violence to know what is blatantly clear right now: ICE and Border Patrol are out of control and put everyone in danger. Enough is enough. The ACLU and the ACLU of Minnesota are demanding ICE and Border Patrol agents immediately withdraw from Minneapolis – and for Congress to rein in their abuses across the country. You can join us in this action, too. These recent killings are not isolated incidents, but the devastating and predictable results of ICE and Border Patrol's lawless operations. For months now, communities in Minneapolis, Chicago, Charlotte, Los Angeles, and beyond have watched in horror as federal agents have smashed car windows and dragged U.S. citizens from their cars, taken children from their beds in the middle of the night, and terrorized immigrant families. It must end and it must end now. We cannot allow ICE and Border Patrol agents to continue terrorizing our communities and ripping families apart like this. And no matter what, please know we at the ACLU will never ever stop showing up for our communities and all our rights. Now and always. In solidarity, Naureen Shah P.S. In the midst of the Trump administration's continued lawlessness, bearing witness is more important than ever. Join us for mass call TONIGHT on how to exercise your constitutional rights to document and record ICE and other federal agents. (This link will take you to a third-party site, moblize.us.
