Notes from the Office of Speaker Mike Johnson

Hello, friends! Thank you for subscribing to the Office of Speaker Johnson's newsletter highlighting what's happening on Capitol Hill and in Louisiana's 4th Congressional District.

IN THE HOUSE

This past Thursday, House Republicans passed the remaining appropriations bills and concluded their work on FY26 appropriations. Following House passage, Speaker Johnson, Leader Scalise, Whip Emmer, and Chairwoman McClain released a joint leadership statement, saying: "Once enacted, any last remnants of Biden-era spending will be replaced with President Trump’s spending levels. Many doubted us, but Republicans have delivered once again in making the America First agenda a reality." On Wednesday, at the weekly House Republican Leadership press conference, Speaker Johnson discussed what it means to finish FY26 appropriations, the beginning of tax season and the transformative benefits of the Working Families Tax Cuts, and his address to the U.K. Parliament. Speaker Johnson said, "Once we pass the final batch this week, Republicans will have finally replaced the last of any Biden-era spending levels with Trump-era spending levels. No more Biden and Pelosi negotiated budgets. We've turned that page, and we are not turning back.” Click the image below to watch Speaker Johnson's remarks.

This week, House Republicans passed two pro-life, pro-family bills to support pregnant women and families and to ensure pregnant students are equipped to finish their education with the resources they need to choose life. House Republicans are committed to delivering on their promise to protect the sanctity of life and support mothers.
