** Hello, friends.

The fight against ICE is intensifying in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Everyday people are undertaking historic organizing efforts against the odious brutality of the federal forces. As the testimonies we have published this month document, this is a federal assault by mercenaries conducting a racial pogrom.
Early Saturday morning—following a day of widespread striking, blockades, and protest ([link removed]) against ICE occupation all across the Twin Cities—ICE agents shot and killed another Minneapolis resident: Alex Pretti.

Eyewitnesses say 37-year-old ICU nurse and rapid responder Alex Pretti was filming ICE and attempting to help a woman who had been debilitatingly pepper sprayed when numerous agents tackled him and shot him multiple times. In the hours following, as the disturbing video of Pretti’s execution by ICE quickly spread, over 1000 Minnesotans mobilized to the site of his murder. In -20º weather, they defiantly faced down both federal forces and the state and local police backing them up.
Our new article ([link removed]) describes first-hand the pitched stand-offs against ICE officers, Minnesota State Patrol, and local sheriffs. Eventually, all police retreated through thick clouds of tear gas. People filled the square, chanting “ICE OUT.”

“A woman was watching from her porch. Someone ran up and addressed her: “Ma’am, we’re out here defending the neighborhood against ICE. We need barricade materials. Is there anything in your yard you wouldn’t mind parting with?”
She nodded urgently and showed them to her backyard.”

** Where do we take it from here?
------------------------------------------------------------
Over the last eight weeks, we have seen Minneapolis-St. Paul churn out a highly organized rapid response network — both a system and a cultural shift. These efforts have been effective at mobilizing thousands on a day-to-day basis to defend their neighbors and disrupt ICE activity of all kinds.

In a new piece ([link removed]) , the authors ask the question, “What would it take for this movement to become capable of taking the offensive across the country?” What potential toward social revolution do these rapid response networks contain? How can we organize our communities against repressive forces at every level? And most importantly: how do we defeat ICE— once and for all? The answer is to start today. Read on for some next steps ([link removed]) and what you can do.

A new essay from German comrades addresses the common liberal ideology and mythology: “Being ‘Peaceful’ and ‘Law-Abiding’ Will Not Stop Authoritarianism ([link removed]) .” The authors draw on historical examples of liberal collusion with the authoritarian state to repress liberatory movements. The article argues that strong anarchist and anti-fascist organizing at a grassroots level is what gives potential to effective resistance against authoritarian regimes.

All of our projects are copyright free. We distribute them for free, or else, where that is impossible, sell print versions for the costs of production and delivery alone. We've been doing this work continuously for fully three decades. If you want to help us expand the scope of our efforts, you can support our projects financially ([link removed]) .
Since this is an all-volunteer project and we take no compensation for ourselves, we can make a little go a long way. If you have the means, consider making a one-time or recurring donation to us. Above all, though, the very best thing you can do for us and for the world is to put the information and skills we offer to use in your own efforts to change the world for the better.
