One thing I know about Abigail is that she will always fight for high quality, affordable healthcare for Central Virginians. She believes that no one should have to decide between going bankrupt or getting sick, simply because they can’t afford their medication.

The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the inadequacies in our healthcare system and as hospitals are reaching their capacities, we are reminded of all the work we have left to do. But Abigail always focuses on finding solutions and getting things done, and she doesn’t shy away from tackling tough problems.

Abigail has led and supported legislation that would lower drug costs, reduce premiums, and increase transparency in drug pricing. She knows that a core tenet of public service is the duty to look out for and protect the most vulnerable people in our society, and these values are reflected in the legislation she pursues and her strong and consistent voting record.

Throughout her career, she has defended everyone’s right to safe, affordable healthcare. For example, she has:

• Authored the Public Disclosure of Drug Discounts Act, which passed the House with unanimous, bipartisan support by a vote of 403-0
• Co-sponsored the Lower Drug Costs Now Act, which would give Medicare the power to negotiate drug costs, including insulin
• Co-sponsored the State Health Care Premium Reduction Act, which could cut premiums by approximately 40 percent for Central Virginians
