Friend –

Like many of you, I am horrified by yesterday’s shooting of Alex Pretti. No one should have to live in fear of masked agents terrorizing our neighborhoods – whether in Minneapolis or right here in Colorado.

This violence must stop. The president must pull these agents out of our cities now.

Let me be clear - I am voting NO on the current Department of Homeland Security funding bill, and will continue doing everything in my power to stop the Trump administration from wreaking havoc in our streets. I will not support giving Kristi Noem's Department of Homeland Security a blank check for cruelty.

As your next governor, I will draw a line in the sand. I will use every tool at my disposal to ensure Colorado remains a place of safety and due process, not a playground for federal overreach.

America has always been in a battle between our highest ideals, the words written in our Constitution, and our worst impulses. Together, we will continue to fight back against Trump's lawlessness to ensure Colorado - and our entire nation - lives up to the principles we've stood up for generation after generation.

- Michael
