Hi friend,
As we reflect on the devastating news coming out of Minnesota and the tragic death of Alex Pretti, we face a choice as a nation. ICE has a bigger budget than most militaries around the world. Masked agents are murdering Americans in the streets. And next week, their funding bill is on the Senate floor.
The Senate must stand with the people and refuse to approve any more funding for this rogue agency. And we must continue to fight back here in the Hudson Valley, too.
Thank you for being a part of this movement.

What I’m doing: I am continuing to press state leaders to restore ferry service between Newburgh and Beacon because our region deserves reliable, efficient transit options that actually work. I joined local officials and the Save the Ferry Community Coalition in calling for a return of ferry service after nearly 2,000 residents, businesses, and local governmental officials demanded action. While the expanded shuttle is a temporary help, it is not a replacement for the ferry’s speed, reliability, or role in supporting waterfront redevelopment, housing growth, and economic opportunity on both sides of the river.
What you can do: Keep speaking up. If the ferry matters to your commute, your business, or your community, let state leaders know. Sign petitions, attend meetings, and share your experience with local officials. When the Hudson Valley shows a united front, we can restore the transportation infrastructure our future depends on.

What I’m doing: I launched a survey of Hudson Valley families to hear directly how rising grocery prices are affecting their lives, and the results are alarming. More than 99 percent of respondents said their grocery costs have gone up, with tariffs and corporate price gouging cited as the top causes. Families told me they are skipping fresh produce and meat, seniors are stretching fixed incomes to the breaking point, and people with health conditions are forced to abandon diets they need to stay well. I took this feedback straight to Washington and turned it into action by leading efforts to repeal tariffs, hold price gougers accountable, and introduce the bipartisan Lower Grocery Prices Act. I am fighting to cut through red tape, lower costs, and make sure no family has to choose between paying bills and putting healthy food on the table.
What you can do: Keep sharing your story. Your input is what drives this fight and strengthens our case in Congress. If high grocery prices are affecting you, reach out to my office or participate in future surveys. Speak up to your representatives and demand action to lower food costs. When New Yorkers stand together and demand affordability, we can force change.

What I’m doing: I am fighting back in Washington against the Trump administration’s plan to turn a warehouse in Chester into an ICE detention facility. This facility, and Trump’s abuse of power through ICE, are dead wrong. They fly in the face of our values. I launched a petition [[link removed]] opposing this facility and have been pressing the administration for answers while standing shoulder to shoulder with local leaders who are pushing back. Our message is simple: ICE, stay the hell out of the Hudson Valley!
What you can do: Show up and make your voice heard. Join the demonstration against the proposed ICE facility on January 29 at 5:30 PM at Chester Commons Park. Peaceful, public opposition matters, and visible community turnout sends a powerful message to Washington. If you cannot attend, sign the petition, talk with your neighbors, and keep the pressure on.
Going on offense

Now is a moment in history where we have to stand by our values. With patriotism and pride, we must fight back against Trump’s abuses of power. In the Hudson Valley and around the country, we’re seeing a rogue administration with no regard for the law, for human rights, or even for humanity. It’s our duty, as the Patriotic Majority, to fight back and win. I hope to see you at the demonstration on January 29.
Keep the faith, keep up the fight, and thank you for reading!
In Solidarity,
Pat
