Good morning from Arctic North Carolina!

Before I say anything else, please let me say, "Brrrrrrrrrr!!!!"

The storm hit our part of NC at around 11 or 12 last night. I awoke to fling open my blinds to....maybe if you round up, an inch of snow. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If it has to be frigidly cold, I should at least get to look at pretty snow.

Sleet is falling lightly this morning, which is more of a concern. But we have the generator and all our devices charged up, and we are ready for whatever comes over the three days straight of winter precipitation.

I watched videos from the Minneapolis shooting last night with a heavy heart. It's a bad look that Secretary of Homeland Security Noem made some very inflammatory comments, treating the man who was shot like he was a burgeoning mass shooter, before having all the information. Mr. Pretti was concealed carrying his firearm and not breaking the law by doing so. I will need to see more video footage, perhaps from a different angle, but the footage I've seen looks like this: One of the ICE agents who was kicking the crap out of Mr. Pretti, removed the gun from his waistband carry before any shots were fired. They maced Pretti, they beat him, and eleven - ELEVEN - shots were fired at him.

I've told you how absolutely brutal the agents in North Carolina were and it appears that they are similar in Minnesota. I've seen video after video of them roughly shoving people to the ground for daring to shoot video or yell at them, both actions which are part of our First Amendment rights.

I don't want to see criminal illegals running around America, killing people, stealing from them, raping them. But there has to be something in between detaining the bad guys and brutalizing American citizens.

I was very thankful last night, yet again, that Mr. Walz is not our vice president, as he is egging on the confrontations happening and making the situation far worse. I read that he FINALLY deployed the National Guard, but they were under orders to stand down. His tweets are inflammatory, and he is refusing to cooperate with a lawful federal operation. Can you imagine that wishy-washy, hand-wringing fellow being second in line to lead the country?

You can dislike having criminal illegal aliens and want to see them deported at the same time as you can deplore violent, terrifying behavior by masked federal agents. And that is exactly the precipice I find myself upon.

I know many of you may disagree with my thoughts on how these operations are being carried out, and that is absolutely fine. We live in a place where we can have discussions like this, and I'm grateful every day for it. I hope you all don't mind me dipping a toe into political drama in the weekend emails, since I no longer write about it on the website. Thank you for being kind.

I hope for the many who are snowed or frozen in right now that you remain safe, warm, cozy, and enjoy the break from rushing around to stay home and play Scrabble with your family.

PS: If you get a chance, please grab a copy of Haven Hill on Amazon. The ebook is free right now for those who are enrolled in the Kindle Unlimited program. With that program, I get paid by Amazon for the number of pages you read.

And please, if you think I earned it, leave me a five-star review!

Stay safe.

Be happy.

Love,

Daisy
