ICE has devolved into “death squads.” That was the message from Stuart Stevens, who went live on Lincoln Square after the ICE killing of another U.S. citizen, Alex Pretti, in Minneapolis on Saturday.
“You go to the last call at the back of Gold’s Gym at guys shooting up steroids who can’t get a job and throw them in an ICE uniform and give them a gun,” Stuart says. “Don’t expect great things to happen.”
Those responsible at the highest levels for this wanton brutality, like top Trump adviser Stephen Miller and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, must be held accountable.
So what can we do now? Stuart proposes a coalition of state Attorneys General—modeled after the historic tobacco litigation of the 1990s—issue arrest warrants. And he notes that Trump can’t protect them from state-level prosecution.
"A federal pardon is not going to get Stephen Miller and Kristi Noem out of jeopardy,” Stuart says. “There needs to be a coalition of state attorney generals ... and they need to get about the business of prosecuting."
You’ll want to watch Stuart’s entire live. And stay tuned for more ongoing coverage on ICE’s occupation of Minneapolis from Lincoln Square.
