A Note from Gil
Welcome back to the Gazette! Each month, I’ll compile the latest updates from our campaign in order to fill you in on the ways you can get involved.
Increasingly this past month, our community has been on high alert as coronavirus case numbers rise in our state. And while California public health officials work to combat this burgeoning health crisis, other challenges still loom large -- specifically, how to safely reopen schools and ensure that we’re supporting students and working families.
I wrote in the Voice of OC about the anxiety that so many parents -- me and my wife included -- feel of how to keep our children both happy and safe during this tumultuous time: “As a Member of Congress and education advocate, I’ve been fighting for more funding for local schools, because I know our teachers and staff will continue to work tirelessly to educate our kids. I’ve also been speaking with education and health experts across the 39th district and California on how to reopen our schools safely.” Indeed, as a congressman and father, both, I’m committed to work with our local school leaders to prioritize health and safety as part of school reopening plans.
The fact is that Congress must take bold steps to not only address the current pandemic and ensure immediate relief, but also to ensure we’re prepared to handle future crises as well. That’s why I’m proud to have worked with my Republican and Democratic colleagues to champion the “Fiscal Year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act,” which includes measures to proactively increase the country’s ability to prepare for and respond to future pandemics and address supply chain vulnerabilities related to the pandemic for small businesses. As we work to provide relief so that our families and communities can recover, I’m committed to ensuring that our collective vision for justice includes economic justice and equal access to resources.
There is so much work to do in our district and in our nation, and I’m grateful to do my part. If there’s anything you have questions about, feel free to respond to this email -- a member of my team will reach out to you soon.
Thank you,
-- Gil

What has Young Kim been up to?
Earlier this month, we learned that Gil’s opponent Young Kim raised a whopping $1.2 million this past quarter. This only solidifies what we already knew to be true: Trump Republicans are looking to California’s 39th as a top pick-up opportunity for the House.
We cannot let our community be represented by someone like Young Kim, who is more interested in pacifying the president than protecting Southern Californians and working families across the country. Can you help us push back against Trump Republicans and ensure that we’re able to tell voters the truth about the work that Gil is doing in Congress?
