A message from CWA President Claude Cummings Jr.
Dear John,
This weekend, a powerful winter storm is forecast to impact 180 million Americans, with 18 states and the District of Columbia declaring states of emergency. Forecasters are warning of “catastrophic impacts,” particularly in areas with ice and freezing rain. It is important for CWA members to take appropriate precautions to stay safe on the job or at home.
Please stay weather aware by following local news or checking
weather.gov. The U.S. National Weather Service provides
important safety tips for winter weather conditions. Make sure you check your union contract and continue to stay in the loop with your local if weather conditions impact your workplace.
I want to express my deep gratitude to all of the CWA members working to keep critical public services available. When severe weather hits, members across our union put in long hours to help people get in touch with their loved ones, assist airline passengers, report the news with critical weather updates, work in healthcare, repair downed phone lines, and a lot more.
Whether you are working to keep your community safe, or doing your part to stay off the roads this weekend, I hope that you and your family stay safe and warm during this storm.
In Unity,

Claude Cummings Jr.
President
