Dear Friend,
Several legislative sessions are now fully underway, and across the country the contrast couldn’t be clearer. While most politicians settle into familiar routines of delay, deflection, and deal-cutting, State Freedom Caucuses are doing what voters sent them to do: force the hard fights early, expose bad ideas in the open, and begin rolling back bloated government that has grown far beyond its constitutional limits.
Here’s what that looks like this week. |
WYOMING
Voters didn’t hand control of the State House to the Wyoming Freedom Caucus so government could be “streamlined” or “run more efficiently.” They did it because state government had grown bloated with waste, fraud, abuse, and spending that often can’t be squared with the Constitution. The Wyoming Freedom Caucus is responding accordingly.
With Freedom Caucus members leading the Appropriations Committee, lawmakers have begun advancing serious budget reductions, including votes to defund Wyoming Public Media, reduce the University of Wyoming’s block grant, and eliminate corporate welfare. These actions represent a deliberate shift away from protecting entrenched interests and toward restoring fiscal discipline.
The backlash was immediate. Big Government Republicans and Democrats are openly furious that the usual spending assumptions are being challenged. Political cartoons (like the one below) and media attacks have followed, aimed squarely at the WY Freedom Caucus for daring to cut instead of "manage". That reaction is the tell.
BOTTOM LINE: Wyoming proves what happens when voters elect lawmakers to reduce the size of government, not cover up a broken system. |
IDAHO In most statehouses, governors give their State of the State speeches, leadership applauds politely, and bad ideas quietly become the starting point for negotiations. State Freedom Caucuses refuse to play along. Across the country, Freedom Caucus members are laying out their legislative priorities at the very beginning of session and responding immediately to governors’ agendas. The goal is simple: warn the public early, force transparency, and deny the Swamp the luxury of hiding bad policy behind closed doors.
In Idaho, our members known as the “Gang of 8” released a public budget pledge so voters know exactly where they stand before the fight begins. No backroom deals. No surprises at the end of session. Just clear commitments made in daylight. This approach flips the script. Instead of reacting to leadership’s agenda, our members force leadership to defend it.
BOTTOM LINE: Our members don’t wait their turn. They expose bad ideas early and make the establishment answer for them. |
QUICK HITS
👉 Wyoming: In a twist that could only happen in government, Governor Mark Gordon sued his own state to block a tax cut passed by the Freedom Caucus–led legislature. After the Wyoming Freedom Caucus called out the absurdity, the administration quietly halted the lawsuit. Pressure works. 👉 Maryland: The Maryland Freedom Caucus is posting daily reminders that an illegal alien arrested months ago is still on the voter rolls. The Big Government Democrats in charge aren't confused with the concept of election integrity - they simply don't care.
👉 Oklahoma: The Oklahoma Freedom Caucus blasted a new legislative pay raise, with OKFC Chairman Shane Jett stating, “This is the epitome of fiscal irresponsibility. We need to root out waste and fraud and see real cuts to wasteful spending, not give pay raises that mock the very taxpayers we are elected to serve”.
👉 Illinois: Illinois Freedom Caucus member Adam Niemerg delivered a fiery floor speech exposing how illegal alien crime is being subsidized by taxpayers, with more than $3 billion in state funds flowing to support illegal immigration.
👉 Oklahoma: 76 Republicans in Congress sided with the Democrats to defeat a House Freedom Caucus amendment that would have stripped out earmarks for DEI activism, gender procedures on children, and other woke projects. The Oklahoma Freedom Caucus publicly slammed 3 RINOs in their congressional delegation for voting NO. Every county in Oklahoma voted for President Trump in 2024 and this is how these RINOs repay their constituents? Shameful.

HELP US HOLD THE LINE This is the most demanding moment of the year. Legislative sessions are when bad ideas move fast and accountability is hardest to enforce.
Our State Freedom Caucuses are meeting that moment head-on, but this work takes resources. From policy support and communications to expanding the Freedom Caucus model into new states, every dollar strengthens our ability to force these fights into the open. If you believe government has grown too large, too unaccountable, and too disconnected from the Constitution, we need your support now. |
We'll be back with another update soon. Until then, please be sure to support our efforts so that we can support our State Freedom Caucuses! In Liberty, |
