Friend,

At a moment when public trust in democratic institutions is being tested,
Congress must be absolutely clear: the use of armed United States
servicemembers to advance a partisan agenda, whether through intimidation,
deployment, or interference in domestic affairs, undermines the checks and
balances that protect our Republic.

That is not a theoretical concern. It is happening right now.

In November of last year, Senators Mark Kelly and Elissa Slotkin,
alongside Representatives Jason Crow, Chris Deluzio, Maggie Goodlander,
and Chrissy Houlahan, reminded members of the armed forces of a basic
constitutional principle: Service members have an obligation to refuse
illegal orders.

The response from the Trump Administration revealed just how threatened
they are by that reminder.

President Donald Trump unleashed violent rhetoric against these lawmakers,
publicly suggesting they be jailed or even worse. Soon after, Secretary of
Defense Pete Hegseth announced a Pentagon investigation targeting Senator
Kelly, a retired Navy Captain, in what can only be described as an attempt
to intimidate and punish dissent.

These actions violate some of the most basic principles of constitutional
democracy. They send a dangerous message that the military answers to
partisan power rather than to the law. They put servicemembers in an
impossible position and test whether Congress will defend its own
authority or quietly allow it to be eroded.

Members of the military swear an oath to the Constitution, not to any
president or political party. Congress has a duty to make that clear and
to speak out when the Executive Branch tries to blur that line.

That is why we are urging supporters to sign our petition calling on every
member of Congress to publicly and forcefully reject attempts to involve
the military in partisan conflicts and domestic politics. This is not
about politics as usual. It is about whether constitutional limits still
mean anything when they become inconvenient to Donald Trump.

United States military must never be treated as a political instrument. >>

Silence in moments like this is not neutrality. It is abdication.

Thank you for taking action.
