The Lincoln Project

Friend,

Trump made a lot of first-year promises before coming into office.

And you know what? A lot of them weren't even that ambitious.

So, here we are a couple days after (finally) getting through his first year. Let’s see what all he’s delivered on:

  • Trump promised to lower grocery store prices. After one year, they’re higher than they were when he first took office.
  • Trump promised to lower energy prices. After one year, Americans are paying more for energy than they did when Trump first took office.
  • Trump promised to revive the declining American auto industry. After a year, the industry is worse off than it was (and that includes Elon).
  • Trump promised to create more manufacturing jobs than “any other president in history.” After a year, manufacturing jobs are down.
  • Trump promised to cut our debt with tariffs. I think we all know how this one ended up.

We could keep going on and on about the promises Trump whiffed on. In fact, we think the only thing he has delivered on is running the country like his "businesses", because that explains the situation we’re in right now.

We think the case against Donald Trump and MAGA is pretty clear for the midterms. If people didn’t vote with Donald Trump last time, then they definitely won’t vote with him this time. And if people voted with Donald Trump last time, thinking he’d improve the country, then why the hell would they vote with him again after he’s failed so miserably?

Trump is making things worse, not better. He doesn’t deserve to keep his majorities. In fact, he doesn’t even deserve to finish this joke of a term. Help us make sure MAGA voters see what’s going on >>
