January 20 marked one year since President Trump returned to the White House. Over the past year, House Republicans have worked closely with the administration to shift Washington’s focus back to the fundamentals: lowering costs, enforcing the law, strengthening the economy, and restoring accountability in government.
On the economic front, there has been real progress. Inflation has fallen significantly from its peak, wages are once again outpacing price increases, and energy production is up, helping bring gas prices down to their lowest levels in years. House Republicans worked with the administration to advance the Working Families Tax Cut, which is delivering meaningful relief, including larger deductions for seniors, no tax on tips or overtime, and an expanded Child Tax Credit to help families keep more of what they earn.
Border security has also been a major area of cooperation. After years of chaos, enforcement is being taken seriously again. For eight consecutive months, Border Patrol has released zero illegal immigrants into the country, and encounters at the southern border have dropped dramatically. Congress has supported these efforts by prioritizing resources for enforcement, deportations, and border infrastructure.
House Republicans have also partnered with the administration to roll back burdensome regulations and strengthen oversight. Federal agencies have cut wasteful contracts, recovered misspent funds, and reduced red tape that made it harder for small businesses to grow. These efforts are saving taxpayers billions and improving accountability across the federal government.
Abroad, the administration has returned to a peace-through-strength approach that emphasizes deterrence and credibility. Congress has worked to support a strong national defense while ensuring taxpayer dollars are used responsibly.
There is more work to be done, but after one year, House Republicans and the administration are working together to provide a steadier, more practical approach to governing, one that puts working families and taxpayers first.

This week, I took part in the House Budget Committee hearing, “Reverse the Curse: Skyrocketing Health Care Costs and America’s Fiscal Future.” I asked tough questions about a problem that impacts every Wisconsin family: waste, fraud, and abuse in the Unaffordable Care Act (Obamacare). Americans have seen their premiums steadily climb over the past 16 years while the government continues to funnel money directly to insurance companies little accountability.
During the hearing, witnesses laid out the data: federal health care spending continues to grow at alarming rates, driving up costs for taxpayers and families alike. I made it clear that Congress cannot fix this by throwing more money at the same broken system. We need real reforms: lower premiums, more transparency, enforcement to stop fraud and abuse, and most important, giving power back to patients.
President Trump’s “Great Healthcare Plan” gives us a roadmap: empower competition, remove unnecessary regulations, lower drug prices, and hold insurance companies accountable.
We’re not going to sit by while waste, fraud, and abuse drive up costs. I’ll keep fighting to make health care more affordable and fair for every family in Wisconsin.

This week, I attended a House Judiciary Committee hearing examining how the Biden-Harris Department of Justice, through Special Counsel Jack Smith, weaponized federal law enforcement to criminalize politics, targeted President Trump and his allies, and trampled core constitutional protections.
During the hearing, I pressed Smith on his investigations and prosecutions, demanding answers on why taxpayer dollars are being used to pursue partisan agendas instead of justice. Americans deserve a fair legal system, one that treats everyone equally under the law, without political bias.
Oversight like this is exactly what we were sent to Washington to do: defend the Constitution, protect citizens’ rights, and make sure no federal office is above accountability.

House Republicans have completed the final four FY26 appropriations bills, delivering significant savings and redirecting taxpayer dollars toward priorities that actually work. With all 12 bills finalized, we are funding the government responsibly while strengthening our military, securing our borders, cutting waste, and investing in real infrastructure and programs that help families thrive. These bills put an end to failed policies and wasteful spending, expand efforts to stop fentanyl and illegal immigration, and ensure Americans are safer in their communities.
They also support our troops with pay raises, better training, and equipment while banning divisive programs like Critical Race Theory and DEI. At the same time, these bills invest in apprenticeships, charter schools, and health initiatives like Food is Medicine, making sure taxpayer dollars go to programs that actually produce results. This is America First governance: saving taxpayer dollars, protecting communities, strengthening families, and putting real results ahead of Washington bureaucracy.

On Monday, we recognized Martin Luther King Jr. Day and reflected on Dr. King’s impact on our country.
Dr. King believed America should live up to the principles in our Constitution and the promise of equal treatment under the law. As he said, “The time is always right to do what is right.”
As we honored his legacy, my offices remained open and ready to serve.

I’m honored to have earned an A+ on Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America’s scorecard - a reflection of my commitment to protecting the most vulnerable.
On Friday, as the March for Life took place, I stood with Wisconsinites and Americans across the country who believe every life matters.

I was honored to attend Marian University’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast on Monday. It was a meaningful gathering of students, faculty, and community members reflecting on Dr. King’s legacy of justice, service, and unity.
Congratulations to Reverend Mary Council-Austin on receiving the 2026 MLK Spirit Award. Her lifetime of leadership and service truly embodies Dr. King’s vision.

I had a great time last weekend at the Eldorado Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser supporting Laconia’s 12U Baseball team. It’s wonderful to see our community come together to support our young athletes and help them grow both on and off the field!
|
I had a great time Sunday at Four of a Kind’s Brat Fry benefiting the Sheboygan County Warming Center. Brats, burgers, raffles, and more - all for a great cause! It’s encouraging to see so many people pitching in to help neighbors in need and support this important work.

I had the pleasure of meeting Canada’s Ambassador to the United States, Kirsten Hillman, this week in Washington, D.C. It was a great opportunity to connect and discuss the strong relationship between our countries.
