AFGE Activist,
Our collective action is working, and we must keep the pressure on!
When we first learned about plans to furlough more than 13,000 U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) employees, AFGE jumped into action. Thus far, AFGE activists and our supporters throughout the labor movement have made more than 40,000 contacts with Congress, urging lawmakers to stop the furloughs! Last week, we won an important delay in the furloughs, but they have not been taken off the table.
We're ready for a week of action to keep the pressure on and end this furlough threat once and for all! If you haven't already done so, we need you to click here and tell your lawmakers to include funding for USCIS in the next coronavirus relief bill.
- Tomorrow, Tuesday, July 28 stay tuned to your emails and text messages for a new action to help us put pressure on Congress and USCIS to stop these furloughs and save USCIS!
- On Wednesday, July 29 at 6:00 p.m. ET AFGE USCIS Council President Danielle Spooner and AFGE National President Everett Kelley will host a virtual panel discussion with special guests on the importance of funding USCIS and keeping our members on the job. Click here to register for the panel discussion in advance. After you register you will receive information on how to the join event on Wednesday.
- On Thursday, July 30 join us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as we spread the message that Congress must #SaveUSCIS and stop the furloughs!
Help us this week as we show our solidarity, our power, and stop these furloughs once and for all!
In Solidarity,
AFGE
