Dear neighbor,

This week, I went to Adelanto ICE detention center to see my constituents being held there, but was denied entrance, even after presenting the court order stating my legal right to conduct oversight at their facilities. I joined the San Gabriel Valley NAACP in West Covina for their 27th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration, then flew back to Washington. I spoke at an Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) breakfast on the importance of diversity and supporting our AAPI community.

It was great to join the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) this week to speak on the importance of uplifting our AAPI community. From small businesses to local leadership and culture, diversity is what makes our communities thrive.

This past weekend, I attempted to conduct oversight at the Adelanto ICE detention center, where at least 3 of my constituents are being held. ICE refused to let me in or let me see my constituents. They are wrongly blockading us from helping. They must be held accountable.

It was great to join West Covina’s 27th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day hosted by the San Gabriel Valley NAACP. The fight for civil liberties, equality, and justice is led by incredible leaders like the ones we have here in CA-31. I am proud to work alongside our community for a better future.

Help Me Fight to Lower Healthcare Costs

While the ACA tax credit extension vote passed in the House, the fight isn’t over yet. Senate Republicans will have to choose people over party and vote to extend the ACA tax credits. Share your premium increases with me at cisneros.house.gov/healthcare-costs to help join the fight.
