Another week of fresh horrors and hot takes in abortion comes to an end—only one day and 53 years after Roe legalized abortion care, and three and a half years since the decision was overturned. What a wild time to be alive. Everything feels really great right now!

The March For Life Happened in DC Friday, January 23rd
10,000 Orcs of Oppression marched in DC this week for their annual anti-abobopalooza and AAF was at the rally and monitored every word. They laid out their agenda, let’s call it “Project Uteri 2026”, and we will bring you all the deets from the ground on NEXT WEEK’S FBK!

Now onto some stories that truly horrified us this week…

Forced to Wait, Left to Die
Ciji Graham, a 34-year-old mother from North Carolina with a history of heart problems, is the latest pregnant person to die because of the real-world effects of abortion bans. Ciji went to a cardiologist with a dangerously high heart rate, but was sent home without treatment after receiving a positive pregnancy test. Trying to obtain an abortion to protect her health, Ciji faced barriers to that access like NC’s abortion ban after 12 weeks, in-person visit requirements, and a 3-day waiting period. TRAP laws like these create conditions where abortion seekers are forced to wait longer and longer for an abortion because of limited access and high patient volumes; for Ciji, it would have been two weeks before she could be seen. She died due to cardiac arrhythmia before she even got the chance.

This is your reminder that abortion bans are deadly for pregnant folks. Ciji Graham should still be alive.

Cease and Desist (From Knowing Things)
North Dakota issued a cease-and-desist to the Prairie Abortion Fund for linking to resources on their website where you can find information about medication abortion. Not content with just removing all abortion access in the state, ND officials apparently believe you shouldn‘t even be allowed to know about it! Of course, this approach isn’t new—South Dakota tried the same shit by going after a nonprofit that ran gas station ads that said “Pregnant? Don’t want to be?”

These folks don’t want you to know that abortion medication is safe, effective, and so incredibly normal. Otherwise, how would they peddle their lies and bullshit moral outrage if we can see through it all?

Like we mentioned—Lizz and Moji are off this week because the whole AAF crew is monitoring the shenanigans from the anti-abortion movement’s yearly circle jerk, the March for Life! Weirdos from across the country, busses full of bored students stoked to get excused time off, and some embarrassing political stunts are taking over the Capitol to march in support of removing your bodily autonomy. We’ll give you allll the details next week—in the meantime, catch up on missed episodes and we’ll be back soon!
