Preparation is underway across Southeast Texas ahead of this weekend’s cold weather event. Utility crews and system operators have taken steps to reduce the risk of outages and keep critical infrastructure running, including: - Power plant equipment has been protected to support operation in freezing temperatures.
- Piping has been insulated or drained to reduce the risk of freezing or bursting.
- Substations and transmission lines critical to reliability have been thoroughly inspected.
- Cold-sensitive equipment has been routinely tested to reduce weather-related outage risks.
- Electric systems serving critical natural gas infrastructure have been inspected and prepared.
- Annual right-of-way clearing has been completed to reduce outages from fallen trees or branches
What to expect this weekend:
Wind chills could drop to 5–15 degrees, with hard freezes Saturday and Sunday nights across Southeast Texas. Overnight temperatures may fall into the teens and low 20s, and some areas could remain below freezing all day Sunday.
Please take the following precautions: - Dress in layers if you must be outdoors.
- Wrap or drain exposed pipes.
- Bring pets indoors.
- Check on elderly neighbors, friends, and family.
- Use heaters safely
Local officials have also opened warming centers across the region for anyone who needs a safe, heated place to stay. A current list of warming center locations across Texas is included here. As always, feel free to reach out to YOUR Texas 14th office if you have any questions or need assistance. If you need urgent help, please contact 911. Stay safe and continue to monitor local forecasts.

One year ago, America changed direction. Now, 365 days into President Donald Trump’s second term, families across Texas’ 14th District are seeing real, measurable results.
The focus is back where it belongs: work, opportunity, border security, and restoring an economy that rewards effort instead of punishing it. And Congress has been doing its part to move that agenda forward.
What this past year has delivered for Texas’ 14th District: - 12,000 local jobs preserved through the One Big Beautiful Bill.
- More than $1 billion in wages protected for Southeast Texas workers.
- $2.6 billion in economic growth secured right here at home.
Families are also feeling relief in everyday costs with gas prices across the district are averaging around $2.40 per gallon. In some communities, prices have dipped near $2, compared to about $2.70 this time last year.
Texas has carried the load on border security for years, often without support from Washington. That burden is finally being recognized with the $13.5 billion in border-security reimbursements to help repay Texas for stepping up when the federal government failed to do its job.
At the same time, Congress has been working to restore fiscal discipline and actually legislation.
What Congress has delivered this year: - Passed and sent the One Big Beautiful Bill to the President’s desk.
- Advanced a rescissions package cutting more than $9 billion in waste, fraud, and abuse.
- The House completed work on all 12 annual appropriations bills, restoring regular order and funding the government responsibly.
- Focused on accountability, border security, energy reliability, and putting taxpayers first.
There is always more work to do, but after one year, the progress is clear. America is back on a path where hard work matters, opportunity is real, and families can plan for the future with confidence, not just for today, but for the next generation.

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD drew national attention after being identified as a host for the “Islamic Games,” a youth sports event. Governor Greg Abbott raised concerns about the event and called on the district to cut ties with the organizers.
The governor cited ties between the event and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). In November, Governor Abbott formally designated CAIR as a foreign terrorist organization under Texas authority and barred the group from purchasing land in the state.

This week in Congress, during Pro-Life Week, I spent time reflecting on something that’s deeply personal to me. As a dad to three and proud grandparent and great grandparent alongside my Beautiful Bride, I’m reminded every day of the incredible gift that life is and the responsibility we have to protect it.
For too long, the government has treated abortion as the default solution while ignoring the real needs of women and children. That does not reflect our values here in Southeast Texas. Women deserve honesty, compassion, and access to real resources that help them choose life with confidence.
That’s why I supported H.R. 6945, the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act, which gives states more flexibility to use existing federal assistance to support pregnancy resource centers. These organizations are on the front lines in our communities, providing counseling, prenatal care, parenting classes, and material support for mothers and families.
I’m also honored to have earned an A+ rating for 2025 on the Susan B. Anthony America National Pro-Life Scorecard. That score reflects more than one vote, it reflects a consistent commitment to protecting unborn life, supporting mothers, and respecting taxpayers.
Americans should never be forced to use their hard-earned tax dollars to fund abortion. Here in Texas, we stand for life. I will always stand up for the unborn, defend the sanctity of life, and fight for policies that strengthen families and uphold the values that make our nation strong.

Team Weber stayed busy across Texas’ 14th this week, meeting with local businesses, community leaders, and families we’re proud to serve. I met with leaders at Buffalo Marine Services to discuss the work they’re doing. We also spent time meeting with constituents from across the district, listening to concerns, answering questions, and making sure folks know YOUR offices (we work for YOU!) are always here to help.
Team Weber also joined the League City Chamber Women of the Bay Area, continuing conversations about workforce development and the role women-owned businesses play in our local economy. At the Texas Rice Council Board meeting, discussions focused on the future of the Texas rice industry, including efforts to bring seed developers and mills together to expand access to the U.S. aromatic rice market. With historically low prices, this is a critical time for Texas rice farmers.
The week also included time centered on faith and service. Team Weber attended the Friendswood Community Prayer Breakfast, honoring winter and spring student-athletes and Christian clubs, and wrapped up the week supporting a Monthly Veteran Food Distribution, helping ensure our veterans and their families have access to the resources they need.
