The House of Representatives just approved a funding bill that would provide hundreds of millions more taxpayer dollars to Kristi Noem’s Department of Homeland Security, allowing the administration to lock up more people and build massive detention centers.

Voto Latino is calling on the Senate to reject this proposal, which expands funding for ICE without meaningful accountability or oversight provisions — and we need your help to keep up the pressure.

Under the leadership of Secretary Kristi Noem, ICE has wreaked havoc on our communities, using aggressive force with impunity, entering homes without warrants, wrongly arresting U.S. citizens, and even detaining young children. Just this past week, officers detained a 5-year-old in Minneapolis and then used the child as “bait” to see if other people were inside his home.

Polling shows that a majority of Americans disapprove of ICE’s tactics — but Republicans are refusing to adopt basic guardrails in the DHS funding bill.
