Hello,
The Bureau of Land Management is responsible for overseeing 250 million acres of federal land -- roughly 10 percent of the country.
The director of the BLM is caretaker of this important federal property.
We’re baffled then that the Trump administration is appointing William Perry Pendley to this position. Pendley is so extreme that he doesn’t even believe that the federal government should own public land in the first place.
For over 40 years, Pendley has been an anti-environmental extremist, first as an official in the Reagan administration and then as a lobbyist for the oil, gas, and coal industries.
Pendley has fought important environmental legislation, such as the Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act.
Appointed acting director last year, Pendley spent decades battling the BLM on behalf of livestock and oil interests, and he has now opened up federal land for development by these same industries.
Now, Trump wants to make his position official. Which means William Perry Pendley, a champion for oil drilling on public lands, will be the top official in charge of protecting our federal environment.
We cannot let the Trump administration give away our federal land to developers.
Thank you,
The WDTO Team
