ICE out of Minnesota rallies set throughout the state today
Following the murder of Renee Good by an ICE officer on January 7, a terror campaign has been unleashed on the people of Minneapolis by the Trump administration. The people have courageously met this gross abuse of power, organizing into networks, protecting vulnerable neighbors, and observing ICE officers wherever they go. We are proud of our sibling public school unions and fellow labor unions in Minnesota, who have been right at the center of the resistance.
Today, thousands of Minnesotans are taking part in a statewide day of truth and freedom, pledging not to shop, work, or go to school, and they are asking for us to take action in our communities in support of their struggle.
CFT stands in solidarity with the people of Minneapolis, and we urge our members to peacefully join rallies throughout the state today to show your support. Major rallies are planned for Los Angeles and San Francisco, with many others planned in other local communities. If you can’t make a rally, consider taking online action, demanding the corporations that are aiding the ICE terror campaign to stop immediately, including Target, Home Depot, Enterprise, Hilton, and Delta.

Major victory for public education as Trump administration abandons appeal on “Dear Colleague Letter”
On Wednesday the Trump administration withdrew its appeal of a federal judge’s ruling in favor of a lawsuit backed by the AFT, which blocked the administration’s attempt to require school districts to censor lessons, abandon student support programs, and certify compliance with its unlawful interpretation of civil rights. The withdrawal marked a final defeat in the administration’s effort to undermine decades of civil rights laws that helped create educational opportunity for all kids. AFT President Randi Weingarten said of the victory, “We are proud that this case has once again halted the administration’s pattern of using executive fiat to undermine America’s laws that enshrine justice and opportunity for all.” More here.
Join us at the March in March in Sacramento on March 12!
First held in the late 2000s, March in March is a long-standing California movement where community college students, faculty, and advocates come together at the State Capitol to defend access, affordability, and public investment in higher education. Across the years, it has mobilized thousands statewide and remains one of the most visible demonstrations of the power and unity of the California Community Colleges system. March in March 2026 will take place on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
We march because education is the foundation of California’s future. We march for students who deserve affordable, accessible, high-quality education. We march for faculty and staff who make that education possible, often without job security or fair pay. We march to remind policymakers that every investment in our classrooms is an investment in California’s communities.
Be part of the statewide movement. Registration for March in March 2026 is now open for students, faculty, staff, and campus/community groups across California. Register here today!
