As we wrap up Disability Awareness Month, we also mark the 30th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It was only 30 years ago that this landmark legislation was passed – until 1990, employers, schools, and all public and private places open to the general public were free to discriminate against people with disabilities.

Rock the Vote's #DemocracySummer2020 [[link removed]] continues on July 30 at 9pm ET with a virtual event celebrating the progress made during 30 years of the ADA and highlighting the continuing fight for disability justice and accessible voting. The ADA was only the beginning in the fight for our rights. This year we need to register and vote to make sure our diverse community is prioritized at all levels of government.
