This week, doctors head to DC to help ease Americans’ fears, volunteer to help re-elect President Trump, stop new taxes before they start, push your school boards to open schools, call your Senators, and the Gettysburg Address for a civics lesson with your kids.
Watch and Share the White Coat Summit in DC Monday and Tuesday of this week, July 27-28, a White Coat Summit with doctors from around the country, that we helped to organize, is taking place in DC. The overall theme of the summit is to help ease the fears of Americans about reopening the economy and schools by highlighting treatment options, dispelling myths and lies, etc.
Please watch the summit events on Facebook and Youtube, and help us share it and get the word out about it – during and afterward. We already have a recording of Monday morning’s broadcast.
Volunteer for our GOTV Project Would you like to volunteer to fill out postcards to voters in critical swing states, urging them to vote for President Trump? If so, please sign up here!
Contact Your Local & State Governments to Say No Tax Increases Due to governments around the country shutting down the economy in reaction to COVID-19, tax revenues have obviously fallen fast. And, in typical government form, rather than cut spending, cities and states all across the nation are hiking taxes. We can be sure that these tax increases will not disappear once the economy is fully reopened and tax revenues rise again.
Now is the time to contact your local and state governments to tell them NO tax increases! Tell them to cut spending instead. This is something local activists and likeminded residents can all join in on. You may also want to reach out to your state conservative think tank to see if they have a list of potential spending cuts already put together that you could send your elected officials – make it easy for them! You can find a list of liberty-minded think tanks for each state at State Policy Network.
City Depending on your local government structure, you may need to call the Mayor’s office, or the city council members, or a city manager.
State For your state government, call your legislators and your Governor.
Reopening Schools Again, if you haven’t yet, please download this sample letter, customize it appropriately, and send it to your school board members to urge them to reopen the schools.
Call Both of Your Senators & Email the White House It doesn’t matter if you have Republican or Democrat Senators, both parties need to hear from their constituents. Call both of your Senators and email the White House with the following messages:
Our country cannot afford to pay people more stay at home than to go back to work. And, if continue the supplemental payments, America will create 13 million fewer jobs and there will be no economic recovery.
Make Real Civics Education a Priority Again Keep an eye out every week for a new activity or book or lesson to bring real civics back to our children.
This week, read the Gettysburg Address with your kids or grandkids, and use the following questions to spur your family discussion. For older children, you can also listen to this discussion between Hillsdale College President Dr. Arnn and Hugh Hewitt about the Emancipation Proclamation and the Gettysburg Address.
You can find the text of the Gettysburg Address here.
