Friend,
This week, Free Press launched our report COMPLICIT: Corporate Media’s Capitulation to Trump’s Attacks on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
In this wide-ranging analysis, we examined the 35 most dominant U.S. media companies and found that all but one had caved to the Trump administration’s assaults on DEI. The owners of the nation’s largest media, tech and telecom companies — including Amazon, Comcast, Meta, Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery — are complicit in facilitating the Trump administration’s whitewashing of the media and erasure of diversity.
Trump has mobilized his loyalists to purge all references to DEI from agency websites, publications and other materials. But they haven’t stopped there. Through his censorship czar at the FCC and other well-placed cronies, Trump has pressured the private sector to perform similar purges across their businesses.
Instead of serving as an essential check against tyranny, selfish corporate oligarchs have chosen to be megaphones for the MAGA movement. As usual, the most vulnerable communities are paying the steepest price for the greed of the wealthy elite.
Check out the full report here — and we’ll be in touch with more opportunities to oppose corporate attacks on diversity, equity and inclusion.

None of this is accidental: Major media companies tend to say one thing about their DEI commitments while doing the opposite. The doublespeak is an attempt to please the Trump White House while paying lip service to the people — because polling shows that the majority of the population actually supports DEI principles.
So if you take anything away from COMPLICIT, let it be this: When more and more people speak out against injustice, the collective drumbeat can more easily withstand government retribution. Democracies erode little by little; don’t let a would-be dictator and his complicit media bully us into submission. Please take a look and share what you learn with your personal networks.
