Dear john,

As our region braces for the winter storm this weekend, I want to make sure you have all the information you need to be prepared and stay warm. I am including the latest information from the National Weather Service Atlanta (click here to visit NWS Atlanta online for up to date information). Below are links to several local warming centers across our district. Please heed the continued guidance of local public safety officials, be prepared for travel disruptions and potential loss of power, and stay safe.

This past weekend, I was delighted to participate in a number of events honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s life and legacy. As Congressman John Lewis always said, MLK Day was "a day on, not a day off." In that spirit, my staff and I joined Rebuilding Together Atlanta and Neighborhood Planning Unit H in Adamsville to work in one of the many community gardens in this west Atlanta neighborhood. Later that weekend, I was honored to attend the annual Beloved Community Commemorative Service at Ebenezer Baptist Church. In this moment, I remember Dr. King's call for us to "cling to infinite hope." It is that hope which sustains me through difficult days in Washington.

In Washington this week, I participated in two hearings with the Judiciary Committee. As Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Crime, I highlighted the ways in which the Trump Administration is dismantling federal systems designed to stop crime and pardoning fraudsters. We must continue to speak out about the impacts these federal actions are having on real families in need.

On Thursday, Former Special Counsel Jack Smith testified before the full committee regarding his work investigating false claims of election fraud in the 2020 election. Georgia was the focal point of many of President Trump's lies as he sought to undermine the will of the American people, but we refuse to be intimidated. I am grateful to Former Special Counsel Smith for testifying to me and my colleagues about the facts.

There is still time to participate in my Valentines for Veterans program! Already, many local schools across every part of our district have indicated they will be submitting cards which my office will help distribute to veterans next month. To join me in creating cards for veterans in our community, see the graphic below or read this press release from my office.

Red graphic with hearts reads "Valentines for Veterans! Join me in sharing love and gratitude with a Georgia veteran this year. By Friday, February 6th, send cards to: Rep. Lucy McBath, ATTN: Valentines for Veterans, 3330 Cumberland Blvd SE, Suite 610, Atlanta, GA 30339."

Thank you for staying up to date with my office. If you require federal assistance of any kind, I encourage you to call my office at (470) 773-6330 or email me at mcbath.house.gov/email-me. For more local updates, please visit my social media platforms.
