“I know we do this every week, Andrew, but this has just been spectacularly shitty in every way for Trump and for MAGA,” says a giddy Rick Wilson as he kicks off this week’s Behind The Numbers.
Andrew and Rick look at the tantrum Trump had in one of his plethora of Truth Social posts over a New York Times / Siena poll where, as Andrew notes, “He’s lost the consent of the governed.” Siena, a poll that is seen by many as an A-tier poll, has some brutal findings.
And when you take a closer look, you can see why Trump is threatening to sue the NY Times over it (which would be a ridiculous violation of the First Amendment, but we all know the reverence he holds for the Constitution).
Andrew and Rick continue to comb through Siena’s polling, including the finding that more Americans feeling like the country is on the wrong track. A common thread is the hollowing out of his MAGA followers, which should be a red alert for Trump.
So what’s Rick’s and Andrew’s advice for Republicans who might consider running this year after looking at all this weeks polling? “Run away!”
