The First Year of Trump’s Second Term: Harms to Children, Families, and Workers
Tuesday was the first anniversary of Donald Trump’s second term. In a new report, CLASP provides a sampling of how the Trump Administration has pushed immigrants, workers, LGBTQ+ communities, and people of color further to the margins. The report highlights specific actions and executive orders in the areas of immigration, child care and early education, nutrition, economic supports, health care and mental health, housing, higher education, and workers’ rights. In addition, it offers an overview of responsive actions taken by communities, policymakers, and courts to withstand and counter the administration’s constant attacks on children, families, and workers. Finally, it provides ways that individuals and communities can fight back against these attacks. “Hands Off the EEOC” Rally
January 22, Wendy Chun-Hoon emceed a rally co-sponsored by CLASP, the 75 Million campaign [[link removed]] , and other partners to protest the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s (EEOC) plan to rescind its harassment guidance. The Trump Administration fired [[link removed]] two members of the EEOC shortly after the beginning of his second term; rescinding its harassment guidance would further weaken the commission’s ability to protect workers and enforce the law. Did you know that 30 federal agencies and offices were excluded from the Civil Service Reform Act through an executive order issued in March 2025.
This exclusion, which is one of the many harms described in CLASP’s report [[link removed]] on the first year of Trump’s second term, removed collective bargaining rights for hundreds of thousands of federal workers at agencies including the Veterans Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, and Department of Energy.
