Hi John,

I’m Tara Harwood, Action Network’s Product Manager, with our latest product update! This release includes several improvements to make your workflows smoother and your database cleaner.

Quality Assurance Checklist

If your organization sends a lot of email, you probably have a list of things to double-check before you click Send. For example, you might have a quality assurance (QA) process where you make sure all the links are working, check your targeting, ensure your tags are correct, etc. Every group will have their own list of standards, usually stored in a document or spreadsheet that is entirely separate from the actual email.

Our new QA Checklist feature can streamline your workflow by integrating your custom QA checklist directly into the Preview & Send screen of any email draft.  Your email reviewers can easily check off tasks without ever leaving the interface, and our system will keep track of what has and has not been done. If a checklist is not complete, we will warn you before sending the email. If the checklist is complete, we will flag that on the list of emails, and provide a handy filter to find emails ready to send. Watch my walkthrough of this feature on Youtube here, and read more about this feature here.

The QA Checklist is a Boost feature. Boost is a new add-on package with advanced features, priority support, and expert deliverability consulting. Our goal is to provide tailored support to organizations that need it while keeping our pricing accessible for everyone. Learn more about Action Network Boost and join the waitlist here.

Tag and Custom Field Management

Over time, tags and custom fields can become stale, cluttering the system with obsolete codes. Our new tools make it easier to find unneeded tags and custom fields by allowing you to sort the lists by the date the tag or custom fields was last used. We have also added the ability to select multiple items from these lists and hide them in bulk. Read more about using Tags here and Custom Fields here.

Small but mighty upgrades:

  • Share to Bluesky! Bluesky has been added to the Sharing & Tracking tab. More here.
  • Call campaigns can now have a fallback number (such as the Capitol switchboard), which will be used if no targets are found for that activist’s address.
  • You can optionally add email addresses as BCCs on autoresponder emails to receive a copy of the autoresponse an activist receives when taking action.
  • You can now remove inline styles from a selected bit of text in the visual editor.
  • You can select emails sent within a date range when targeting.
  • Donation count has been added as an option for automated A/B testing, both as a key statistic and circuit breaker statistic.
  • If an email is in a Mailstream, you can now see the Mailstream settings and make changes on preview and manage pages. You will also be warned before sending if targeting recalculation is needed. More on Mailstream here.
  • European French (fr-FR) has been added as a language option for actions.
  • SQL mirror documentation is now searchable!

Finally, please note: This release adds version 6 of embed widgets. We regularly release new versions of these widgets to add features and fix issues. Newly created actions will automatically use version 6 widgets, and newly copied embed code will as well. Older widgets will still function, but we recommend upgrading them to the latest supported version.

To update previous actions, edit your page wrappers and save — any actions using that wrapper will be updated. We also recommend updating any embeds on your website by copying fresh embed codes from your actions. As always, please check that your action pages look the way you expect across different action types. Read more about creating and managing action page wrappers here.
