Donald Trump flew to Davos, Switzerland this week, John, to meet with and give a speech to our European allies. So, of course, President Trump spent his time talking about the 2020 election as he threatens not to hold elections in 2026. In his own words: |
“It's a war [Ukraine] that should have never started and it wouldn't have started if the 2020 US presidential election weren't rigged. It was a rigged election. Everybody now knows that. They found out. People will soon be prosecuted for what they did.” |

Again, millions of taxpayer dollars have been spent by MAGA elected officials across multiple states looking for evidence of election fraud in 2020, and nothing has been found. Despite years of effort by opponents of voting rights, no valid proof of any misdeeds relating to the 2020 election has been brought to light, even as wave after wave of suppressive legislation has been made law.
Now, Trump is also threatening prosecutions. Who is he targeting? We don't know, even though his MAGA Department of Justice has sued Fulton County, Georgia (home to Atlanta) for ballots and other election materials from 2020. What we do know is that Trump has already weaponized the federal government against his perceived political opponents, like former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James. Is his 2024 opponent, Kamala Harris, next? 2020 campaign staff? Or Joe Biden himself?
What we do know is that this is all wrong, and we have to defend our fundamental right to vote before it's too late. The fate of mail-in ballots, early voting programs, voter outreach initiatives, and voter registration drives depends on our work right now, ahead of November.

This isn't the first time during this term that Trump has claimed 2020 was "stolen". He's continued to push the claim that Dominion voting machines had been rigged against him on social media, and he's issued executive orders targeting the use of vote-by-mail. He pushed his MAGA staff at DOJ to sue dozens of largely Democratic-controlled states for access to their voter rolls. Trump has also repeatedly sought to assert federal control over elections, which are run by the states.
This is a big red warning sign for our elections coming up and our fight for voting rights in general. If the sitting president still can't accept defeat years later after winning another election and returning to power, what makes us think he'll accept election losses by his party in November?
We have to do the work, right now, to fight back. We can't wait until this summer, or even the primaries this spring, to start caring about our elections. We have to stand up in this moment to make sure we have elections in November and that the results will be respected, even by opponents of voting rights if they lose.
Help us fight the vote suppressors with $35 or whatever you can and make every vote count this November around the country >> |

Integrity First Voter Action Project is dedicated to expanding ballot access and increasing voter participation across the country.
Since the Supreme Court gutted key provisions in the Voting Rights Act, extreme politicians have taken advantage to pass harsh laws that restrict access to the ballot box. These restrictions particularly affect disadvantaged communities and people of color. It’s our goal to bring awareness to these laws wherever they may crop up and organize voters to take action to ensure the right to vote is available to everyone in their states and communities.
